Wildfires and brushfires are dangerous occurrences that can occur in dry desert climates such as here in the Valley. Running rampant through our dry climate environment is dry brush and shrubbery that can easily catch on fire, especially now since monsoon season is officially over. SERVPRO of Avondale/Goodyear/Southwest Phoenix has several tips for how to prepare yourself and your family in the event of a potential wildfire and brushfire threatening your home or business.
Be Informed
Follow local news sources and subscribe to text notifications that will alert you of emergency situations in your area.
Plan
Have a safety plan in place that covers everyone’s needs and safety. The plan should include all exits and escape routes as well as determining a safe place to meet outside and away from the home in case you all become separated.
Ready To Go
Create a go-bag which is essentially a bag of emergency items specially catered to you and your family’s needs. Aside from the obvious items such as food and water and a first aid kit, include other items such as specialty medications that certain family members require, clothes, toys and other items to keep your children occupied.
