Experiencing Flooding From A Storm? Here's What You Should Do

Rainstorms here in the Valley can dump significant amounts of rain, especially during monsoon season. SERVPRO of Avondale/Goodyear/Southwest Phoenix responded to many homes and businesses affected by water damage due to these storms. Many residents and businesses were unprepared and had no idea what to do when they found that their building structures had flooding from the storms.

We are still a few months out until the 2019 monsoon season makes its grand entry but until then, here are some helpful tips to prepare you to know what to do in case your home or business is experiencing flooding.

1. Remove excess water by mopping up or blotting with towels.
2. Remove wet cushions from couches and chairs and prop them up. Follow the same steps for upholstery.
3. Place furniture up on wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpets. Another alternative is to place aluminum foil between the furniture and wet carpet.
4. Remove rugs from wet carpeting and pick up any of your belongings that are on the floor.
